Today I took one of the open top "Hop on Hop Off" double decker bus tours of Malta. I went North Route Valletta, Balzan, Attard, Ta' Qali, Mosta, Mdina, Mgarr, Golden Bay, St. Paul's Bay & Bugibba. Photos can be seen here.

Went on a cruise of Valletta's Grand Harbour and surrounding creeks today. It was windy and quite cool. There were not as many photo opportunities as I had hoped but it was worthwhile anyway.

Within the next week or so I plan to take both of the open top bus tours available. They go from Sliema Strand area with one going North and the other going South.

I now have Internet access at the flat and am catching up on work. I will start doing some travel around Malta next week.

Caught the bus into Valletta today (0.47 Euro). It seems that everyone comes out and walks around on Sunday as the streets are crowded. The main street of Valletta is a typical old European style street and is pedestrian only. There are lots of souvenir/tourist shops and it appears that the bulk of Maltese shops are aimed at the tourists.

There is a market close to the bus terminal (seen one market seen them all), nothing new here.

I plan to take a harbour cruise sometime within the next couple of days and I will post photos of Valletta etc.

Cleaned the balcony/BBQ area and set up "The Office"

I am now in Malta (I had made a previous entry but it went missing) - I have rented a small one bedroom flat near Spinola Bay, St. Julian's - It is within a few hundred metres of the seafront and about ten minutes walk to St. George's Bay - The only real sandy beach in the area.

It is small and needed a good clean (I spent all day today cleaning) but the price is right - 260 Euro per month - that's about $442 Aussie per month!

The flat has a large sunny balcony at the rear with a small BBQ. I am within easy walking distance of the seafront and supermarket, cafes, restaurants, bars etc.

The cost of groceries etc is about 2/3 rd of Australian prices. The international measure of affordability (no not the McDonalds Big Mac) - BEER is about half the price - I bought some 500ml cans today in the supermarket for 47 Euro Cents (about 80cents Aussie).

The weather is fine, sunny and warm 27C today.

I move into the flat tomorrow and hope to have Internet, phone and cable TV within a few days.

I have a free day today so I will be catching up with emails etc and posting photos. I have moved closer to the airport as I have an early flight to Malta via London tomorrow morning. I am staying at the The Concorde El Salam Hotel, Cairo which may be the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in but it is nice.
